Financial workshops available for state's catfish producers
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Two upcoming workshops will help Mississippi catfish producers evaluate operational changes and the overall financial health of their farms.
The east Mississippi workshop will take place on May 10 at the Four-County Electric Power Association building in Mayhew. The Delta workshop will be on May 17 in the Charles W. Capps Jr. Entrepreneurial Building at the Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center in Stoneville. Both workshops will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Sponsored by Mississippi State University, one topic the free workshops will cover is the use of partial budgeting techniques. These techniques will be demonstrated with relevant examples. Producers also will learn how to evaluate the financial health of their operation through the use of balance sheets and income statements. Using financial ratios as a guide, operators will learn how to make financial decisions that can improve the long-term viability of their farms.
Interested producers should contact Mayme Pickens at (662) 686-3269 with additional questions and to ensure adequate seating.
