Statewide event targets women in agriculture
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Women, who are often the sole decision makers in their agricultural businesses, and their business partners are the target audience for an upcoming statewide seminar in Jackson.
The April 2-3 program will provide updates on current issues facing agriculture and reinforce information shared at previous workshops. The workshop is open to all women with an interest in farming as well as those who have taken part in previous seminars.
This is the third year for “Mississippi Women in Agriculture – Annie’s Project.” In addition to a panel discussion, topics to be covered include the new Farm Bill, legislative issues, alternative energy, the national economy, generational concerns and the future of agriculture. Featured speakers include Troy and Stacy Hadrick of Advocates for Agriculture.
Registration is $100 for the main conference located at the Hilton Jackson on County Line Road. Pre-conference options for additional training in Web page design or Farm Analysis Solution Tools also are available for an additional $25.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service is partnering with the Southern Region Risk Management Center, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service, the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and the Southern Rural Development Center to sponsor these business management seminars.
