4-H'ers display talent Oct. 12 at state fair
JACKSON – Mississippi 4-H’ers will showcase their talents at 4-H Day at the Fair during the Mississippi State Fair Oct. 12.
Competitions, exhibits and hands-on activities will be open to the public beginning at 9 a.m. Competitions will conclude around 1 p.m. Livestock events will continue throughout the day.
All 4-H events and competitions except one will be held in the Trade Mart. Public speaking will be held in the Cattlemen’s Association building, located across from the fairgrounds at 680 Monroe Street, Suite A.
Competitions include the 4-H clothing contest, fashion revue, modeling squad showdown, robotics and public speaking. The public is invited to engage in science experiments, conservation activities and shooting sports demonstrations.
Exhibits will be displayed in the 4-H Village in the Trade Mart.
The 4-H Poultry Chain Show is new to the livestock show this year. The show begins at 9 a.m. in the livestock arena. The live auction begins at 2 p.m.
The 4-H Leadership Team will share information on the Smith-Lever Act, which created the Extension Service in 1914.
Admission is free before 3 p.m. to 4-H members, volunteers and agents with a 4-H Day pass. All 4-H activities are free.
Admission to the fairgrounds is $5 per person for adults and children age 6 and above. Children under 6 are admitted free. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
