Annual muscadine field day set for Aug. 24
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Muscadine grape growers can hear about the latest research and see fruit on the vine at Mississippi State University’s McNeill Experiment Station in Pearl River County on Aug. 24.
“The McNeill Station is the traditional location for the Muscadine Field Day,” said Eric Stafne, Extension fruit crops specialist. “Last year an experiment was in place that couldn’t be disturbed so we had to move to the Beaumont Experiment Station, but this year we are back to McNeill.”
Experts from the MSU Extension Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service will discuss a variety of topics, including insects and diseases, best production practices and cultivar selection.
This free program is from 9 to 11 a.m., and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The MSU Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will host the event. The McNeill Experiment Station is located at 7 Ben Gill Road in Carriere.
