MSU Extension promotes financial health by saving
GRENADA – As part of America Saves Week, which ends March 2, Mississippi State University Extension Service is spreading the saving message to promote automatic savings to help people reach their savings goals.
“America Saves Week is a great opportunity to help people in our community to set a goal, make a plan and save automatically,” said Rita Green, a financial management Extension agent based in Grenada County.
To help people save more successfully and to encourage more people to save, the MSU Extension Service is partnering with Trustmark Bank to offer the opportunity to open savings accounts to consumers who receive free tax preparation at the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site in Greenville, which is operated by the local community action agency, Warren Washington Issaquena Sharkey Community Action Agency Inc.
Consumers will have the opportunity to learn about savings on WABG’s Good Morning Mississippi and WXVT’s Delta Daybreak by watching Green’s Your Money Minutesegment, sponsored by the MSU Extension Service and funded by Bank of America Charitable Foundation.
