Fall tour welcomes gardeners in Verona
VERONA -- The North Mississippi Research and Extension Center will host a fall event for vegetable and flower gardeners.
Mississippi State University Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will host this yearly event on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Verona.
MSU horticulture experts will lead educational seminars, answer gardening questions, and offer walking and wagon tours of the vegetable and flower gardens at the facility located at 5421 Highway 145 South.
The theme of this year’s tour will be container gardening. Seminar topics include insect control, annuals and perennials, shrubs and trees, vegetables and best cooking methods for fresh vegetables and fruits.
Children 12 and under will be invited to pick out and paint a pumpkin. Lessons in horticulture will also be provided to them by coloring pages of fruits and vegetables.
Vendors to display a variety of gardening items for sale. Food will also be available for sale. For more information, call 662-566-2201.
