MSU workshop will support natural resource enterprises
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- A July 17 workshop in Hattiesburg will help landowners recognize the income-generating potential of using their land in natural resource enterprises.
The Mississippi Forestry Commission, the U.S. Forest Service and the MSU Extension Service are offering the Natural Resources Enterprise Advanced Workshop. The event will be held at the Forrest County Extension Office on July 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We help landowners learn about generating supplemental income from their property,” said Adam Rohnke, Extension wildlife associate and event organizer. “Whether you have considered an outdoor business or already have a business that you wish to expand, the information at this workshop will help with your decisions.”
Topics covered in the workshop include tax considerations, case studies, business plan development, integrated forest management, legal and liability considerations and compensation incentive programs. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and get professional advice from legal experts, wildlife habitat specialists, foresters, outdoor business owners, accountants and marketing specialists.
Other sponsors include the MSU Forest and Wildlife Research Center, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
The registration fee of $25 per person or $30 per couple includes lunch and handouts. Registration deadline is July 10, and space is limited. Register online at http://www.wildlifeworkshop.msstate.edu. Or contact Kelly LaSalle at klasalle@cfr.msstate.edu or 662-325-3133 for more information.
