New Albany's garden, home show is April 4-5
MISSISSIPPI STATE – The New Albany Home and Garden Show will offer two packed days of exhibits and speakers as they celebrate “Wings into Spring” April 4 and 5.
The Union County Master Gardeners will host the sixth annual event at the Union County Fairgrounds. The show is free and open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are already sold out for the Lunch and Learn Seminar on Friday.
The event will feature more than 20 educational sessions and demonstrations, along with plant, food, yard art, lawn furniture, garden equipment, and arts and crafts vendors. Horticultural experts from industry, Mississippi State University and the MSU Extension Service Master Gardeners will be on hand to address gardening questions.
Speakers include Extension horticulturist Lelia Kelly; Norman Winter, former Extension horticulturist and now author and director of the University of Georgia’s Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens; Catherine Strange, author of “Fearless Entertaining”; Rick Pudwell, director of horticulture for the Memphis Botanical Gardens; Chris VanCleave, the author and radio host known as the Redneck Rosarian; and other specialists.
Among the topics to be covered are woody ornamentals, beekeeping, weeds, homemade wine, growing sweet potatoes, shade plants, composting and more.
