Annual MSU horse auction takes bids starting Nov. 14
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Seventeen animals are available for purchase through the annual Mississippi State University horse auction Nov. 14-19.
The online auction is available for preview through Nov. 13. Prospective buyers can view photos, registration papers and descriptions of each horse at https://auction.msucares.com.
Lots range from a bay filly described as bred to run to a 2-year-old sorrel gelding that has been trained to load on a trailer and participate in showmanship events. Both these horse are registered with the American Quarter Horse Association.
Bidding opens at 8 a.m. on Nov. 14 and closes at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19. Opening bids range from $300 for weanlings to $1,500 for 2-year-olds.
Successful buyers can pick up horses between 10 a.m. Nov. 21 and 3 p.m. Nov. 27, except Thanksgiving Day, to avoid $20 per diem charges. Payment is due at the time of pickup. Credit and debit card payments can be made on the auction website.
The sale is a collaboration between the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, the MSU Extension Service and the MSU Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences.
