North Miss. row crops field day set for Aug. 11
VERONA, Miss. -- North Mississippi farmers and consultants can learn about the latest row crop research and the potential for using unmanned aircraft systems in crop production during a free field day program in Lee County.
Experts with the Mississippi State University Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will host the biennial North Mississippi Research and Extension Center Agronomic Row Crops Field Day on Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The field day program begins with registration at 8 a.m. at the Lee County Agri-Center Magnolia Conference Center on Highway 145 South in Verona. Field research plot tours will begin at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be available for attendees.
This year’s field day featured speaker will be MSU President Mark Keenum.
Educational and industry exhibits will provide a variety of information on several crops, including corn hybrids, cotton and soybeans. Attendees will also learn about irrigation, plant management and other agronomic row crop research.
Certified crop advisers can earn continuing education credits at the event.
