Extension, MAFES host Seed Technology Short Course

STONEVILLE, Miss. -- Seed-applied technologies and seed treatment processes will be among the topics covered at this year’s MSU Seed Technology Short Course.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station invite seed industry professionals, producers and crop consultants to attend the short course July 31 and Aug. 1 at the Charles W. Capps Jr. Entrepreneurial Center in Stoneville.
The theme of this year’s course is “Seed Treatments and Enhancements.” Participants will learn about labels, coatings, treatment products, application methods, equipment calibration, and treatment solutions for commodity, forage and turf seed applications
Presenters will also discuss seed quality evaluation and testing, state and federal labeling regulations for treated seed, and handling, storage and environmental stewardship of treated seed, biologics and microbial seed-applied technologies.
An on-site equipment demonstration will showcase commercial seed treatment processes, applications and calibration methods.
The $100 registration fee covers the short course lecture sessions, printed materials, equipment demonstration, breakfast and lunch each day, and a dinner after the first day.
