Extension offers pesticide training online, in person
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Dicamba Applicator Training required for individuals who plan to apply dicamba herbicide products in Xtend cropping systems has been opened online and scheduled at several sites in the Delta and north Mississippi.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service updated the web-based Auxin Training and Dicamba Applicator Training modules to reflect the latest requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The modules are available at http://auxintraining.com. A private applicator certificate number is required to access the online Dicamba Applicator Training.
The workshops will be presented in face-to-face settings March 4-8 in Washington, Yazoo, Leflore, Marshall, Calhoun, Hinds, Lee, Tunica, Coahoma, Bolivar, Grenada and Noxubee counties. To receive a certificate for the Dicamba Applicator Training, participants must attend the entire presentation. Anyone who arrives late or leaves early will not receive a certificate.

In addition to the online or in-person training, agricultural professionals must secure a commercial or private pesticide applicator certification to apply approved dicamba herbicide products in Xtend cropping systems. Individuals working under the direct supervision of a certified applicator may no longer make applications of legal dicamba herbicide products during the growing season.

Individuals attending the in-person Dicamba Applicator Training workshops must bring their private applicator certification cards. Those without this certification may still participate in the training, but their dicamba applicator certificate will be invalid until they complete the private pesticide applicator training.
